Board of Directors

The Hopkins Fastpitch board consists entirely of volunteers. The board meets monthly, typically the third Monday of each month from 7-9 p.m. in the conference room at Bloomgren Hanson Legal. Board meetings are open to league families and players. Note that if you have a topic you would like to specifically address to the board at a meeting, please contact the board in advance to discuss your topic in order to get on the agenda.

There also are typically one or more open board positions at any time. If interested in serving on the board, please contact the board at the email below to express your interest. Board minutes of the meeting will be posted regularly.

Executive Board

Nicole Schoonover
President

Nicole has served on the board since 2021. She has previously served as a coach and has a daughter at the 12U level. Prior to joining the Hopkins Fastpitch board she was a Girl Scout Troop leader for many years, serving as Cookie Parent and treasurer across 2 different troops. Nicole grew up playing softball through high school and continued to play on many adult and women's only leagues.

Matt Hanson
Vice President

Matt has served on the board since November of 2017 and has a daughter in 10U. Matt coaches and is also a clinician during the Fall and Winter. Matt is highly involved across many community sports and activities.

Toni H
Treasurer

Toni's daughter, Abi, played for Hopkins Fastpitch for 8 years. Abi is an accomplished pitcher now for Concordia University, St Paul. Toni's daughter Abi is also our pitching clinician.

Steve Spaulding
Secretary

Steve started on the board in 2023 and has a daughter in 12U. Steve coaches and is also a clinician during the Winter. Steve is also a coach and board member for his son who plays in the Hopkins Baseball Association. In addition to Steve's secretarial duties on the board, he is our clinics coordinator.

Chris Tangert
EQUIPMENT

Chris has served on the board since 2024. He is a Hopkins High School graduate, and currently teaches within the district. He has vast coaching experience across multiple activities and is a MNSHAPE Paul Schmidt Award recipient. Chris serves as one of our 12U coaches in addition to his board duties.

Salena Gallo
COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Carl Yancy
NON-VOTING MEMBER AT-LARGE

Carl was named head coach of the Hopkins High School team in the fall of 2018 after serving many years as the assistant coach. He has coached at the community, club, high school, and college level. He previously was actively involved in the Eden Prairie association serving several leadership roles when his daughter played there. Carl is a non-voting member of the Board.

FIELDS & UMPIRES

This role ensures umpires are scheduled for all games that they are needed including tournaments. Works with the treasurer on payment of umpires and oversees the ordering and maintaining of umpire gear as needed. This role requires some availability during weeknights to troubleshoot potential umpire no-shows.

UNIFORMS & APPAREL

This role coordinates association wide uniform, and coaching apparel orders and delivery. Maintaining jersey number's across all levels to ensure no duplicates and being present at uniform try on events. Other duties may include ordering swag items for parades and community events.
