Advanced Clinics-Registration is Open

Registration is now open for the Advanced Winter Skills Clinics.   These clinics are designed for junior high and high school aged athletes looking for an advanced, fast paced, and more intense off season training opportunity.  Registration deadline is 12/1.  The number of participants is limited for the Thursday/Friday sessions due to the space available.  We would encourage you to register early to ensure spot in these sessions.

Hopkins Fastpitch

14U, 16U, 18U Advanced Skills & Training Clinic

(Open to experienced 2nd year 12U Players)
 

Thursday/Friday Option ($250): 6pm-8pm at Batting Cages of MN.  These sessions will emphasize development of hitting, pitching, and catching skills.  Each player will sign up for a one hour time slot on each of these nights. All players will do hitting drills, face live pitching, and review video analysis of swing mechanics.  Pitchers and catchers will also receive position specific training. Sessions begin 12/6/18 and run through 2/7/19 (no clinics 12/27 and 12/28).

Sunday Option ($200):  3-5 PM at Hopkins North JH.  These 2-hour sessions will concentrate on defense including fielding technique (infield/outfield), throwing mechanics, arm strength, situational defense, base running tips and tricks, and strength/agility training.  These sessions will begin on 1/6/19 and run through 3/3/19 (no clinics 1/13/19).

Combo-Thurs/Fri/Sun ($400) – Includes all sessions listed above.

Clinicians

Brad Horstman (College Coach):  Began coaching in 1996 at Hopkins High School.  Hired as Key assistant coach at University of St. Thomas in 2000.  As a former head coach at the professional level, Horstman has a unique all-level approach that allows him to specialize in helping all Fastpitch players regardless of where they currently are in their playing career.  Horstman attributes his instructing pedigree to working side by side for 18 seasons with John Tschida (St. Thomas), the youngest elected coach to the NFCA Softball Hall-of-Fame, and the only NCAA Softball coach to win National titles at multiple universities

Shannon Brophy (Div 1 Softball Player): Softball player turned coach with a mission to develop and support girls as they pursue softball and grow into powerful athletes and women.  Shannon was a catcher for the Cooper Hawks and later for the Minnesota Gophers.  She coached at Cooper High School for 4 years and for the Cooper Armstrong Association for 8 years.  Shannon has coached at the Elite level for the over 10 years.

Barry Stern (Elite Coaching): Coached youth fastpitch for 16 years. Coached 2001-2012 Cooper/Armstrong. Barry and fellow Hopkins coach Shannon Brophy created the CA Heat club team, leading their 18U team to a State Championship and a 5th Place finish at Nationals in 2010.   C/A Heat was designed to help athletes prepare for college level play. Currently coaching Hopkins traveling fastpitch 2012-current.

Dave Lindstrom (Professional Baseball Player): Dave played Division 1 college baseball at Texas Tech University where he was an All-American catcher.  He then played professionally in the Detroit Tigers organization for several years.  Dave has been involved with Hopkins fastpitch program as a coach, clinician, and board member since 2009 and is currently a head coach for Golden Valley Little League.  Prior to coaching fastpitch softball and baseball at the youth levels, he coached baseball at both the high school and collegiate levels as well as serving as a private instructor and clinician.

Gabrielle Stern (Fitness Expert):  Played Softball for 10 years at Armstrong and Cooper High Schools.  Within the Cooper Armstrong Softball Association Gabby played under Shannon Brophy and Barry Stern.  As a coach, she has assisted the Hopkins Fastpitch Association for the last 4 years focusing on player development, agility and fitness training.
