Hopkins Sports Board Meeting

Monday, January 17th, 2005

 

 

Attendance:  T. Parsons, D. Meyer, R. Rivett, J. Thibault, T. Undis, C. Eischens, J. Rouse, M. Olson, S. Minkel, B. Nybo, C. Gonyeau

 

1)       J. Thibault started the meeting with opening remarks. 

 

2)       Secretaries Report for December was approved with changes.

 

3)       The Treasurer’s Report was approved as written.  Rick will present the Annual Report at the February board meeting.

 

4)       Fund Raising – M. Olson presented a draft letter regarding soliciting donations for the organization.  Any input/revisions should be forwarded to Mike.  M. Olson is also looking for people to be on the fundraising committee.  Interested persons should contact Mike.  R. Rivett submitted an application to the Minnesota Twins fund seeking matching donations for the organization. 

 

5)       Winter Gym – Number of girls attending second session is up due to opening it up to kids outside of the Hopkins school district/traveling program.  Pitching gym has been consistently full at the 12-1 and 1-2:30 sessions.  Due to the large numbers we have now closed winter gym to kids outside of our program. 

 

6)       Evaluation Committee – A process for those individuals interested in being evaluated for a higher level aged team is in the works.  Summer Evaluations will be held February 13th at the Lindbergh Center.  Makeup date will be March 20th at Eisenhower.  Current numbers look like there will be 2-10’s, 2-12’s, 2-14’s, 1-16 and possibly 1-18.  We are recruiting players on Fastsports for 14-18U’s.

 

7)       Summer Registration will be held on January 31st at North Junior High along with the MHGS. 

 

                ACTION:  D. Meyer to email all kids reminding them of the date for the early discount 

               

8)       Royal Rampage Tournament Committee has been formed.  Members include R. Rivett, M. Olson, T. Undis, M. Peterson, B. Nybo and J. Rouse.  Next meeting will be February 7th at 7 p.m. at the Hopkins VFW.  Date of the tournament is May 21st/22nd.  Will permit the fields at North Junior High, West Junior High and the High School.  Dean added a page to our website for additional information. 

 

9)       Old Business – T. Undis received quotes for helmets/facemasks from Metro Sports but has not heard back from All Star Sports.  Metro has the following prices:  Helmets:  $13.95 for ponytail helmet; $11.95 for the Non Ponytail Helmet.  Masks were an additional $11.95.  Assembled the helmets will run between $22.95 and $26.95.

 

10)    Old Business – First Aid kits need to be refilled.  J. Thibault to check into first aid clinic date in March so members can attend.
