Hopkins Sports Board Meeting

Monday, February 21st, 2005

 

 

Attendance:  M. Olson, C. Eischens, J. Thibault, B. Nybo, R. Rivett, M. Peterson, D. Meyer, S. Minkel, T. Undis, J. Rouse, T. Hathaway

 

1)      M. Peterson started the meeting with opening remarks. 

 

2)      Secretaries Report for January was approved as written.

 

3)      The Treasurer’s Report was approved as amended.  Annual Report will be e-mailed this week to board members. 

            ACTION:  R. Rivett to check status of umpire check to Tim Luther.

 

4)      Fund Raising – M. Olson asked again for input on the fundraising letter he drafted.  Goal was set at $3,500 for this year.  M. Olson to check into offering corporate sponsorship on our website.  T. Undis to again help get the raffle tickets printed for the annual raffle.  Anyone interesting in submitting items can contact M. Olson.  Will also offer the Twin’s Day at the Dome.  E-mails and information will be forthcoming.

ACTION:  R. Rivett to provide Hopkins Sports history to aid in completing the fundraising letter.    

 

5)      Winter Gym – Gormley is done instructing for the 11 a.m. slot of winter gym.  Pitching gym has continued to be full and have added instructors at the novice session.  Will need to address at a later date whether or not have winter gym open or closed to participants outside of our program. 

 

6)      Evaluation Committee – Makeup evaluation date will be March 20th at Eisenhower.  Has good turnout at the first session:  9-14’s, 21-12’s and 14-10’s.    Discussed a mechanism if players want to move up in age groups.  Evaluation committee will draft official process and post it. 

 

7)      Summer registration/team formation was discussed.  Currently 21 kids at 10U.  M. Olson and T. Hathaway to coach the teams.  There are 23 at the 12Us.  J. Rouse, C. Gonyeau, M. Gallagher and J. Gallop are the coaches.  There are 16 kids at the 14U’s.  M. Peterson and R. Rivett to coach.  Still trying to find more kids to field 2 teams.  There are 11 registered at the 16U level.  Still in need of a coach.   Due to only 2 kids at 18U they will be notified that there will not be a team and will be provided with help looking for another team to play on.    Looking at April 11th for the leadoff picnic at Eisenhower.  C. Eischens to chair the event with the help of others.

            ACTION:  D. Meyer to email all kids regarding uniform replacement orders 

           

8)      Royal Rampage Tournament has openings for 32 teams.  Currently have 2 teams at each age group of 10 and 12U interested.  The website will continue to be updated.  Next meeting scheduled for March 7th

 

9)      Suburban League meeting was held.  M. Peterson was re-elected to the board. 

 

10)   New Business – T. Hathaway asked how teams at the 10U’s would be split. Discussion was held and he was encouraged to participate in the evaluation meetings. 

 

11)   Meeting adjourned at 9:43.
