Board Meeting

Attendance: M. Peterson, J. Thibault, C. Eischens, T. Undis, D. Meyer, R. Rivett; J. Rouse; J. Clark; T. Moynihan, T. Parsons, M. Rodgers
1) M. Peterson started the meeting with opening remarks.
2) Minutes were approved as written.
3) Treasurer’s Report was approved.
ACTION: Check status of bulk mailing permit – R. Rivett
4) The Mary Nutter softball clinic was held January 16th and 17th at the Minnetonka Opus Mariott. Hopkins Sports paid for the high school coach, Chantell Jernell and her staff to attend. Others attending were J. Clark, M. Peterson and R. Rivett.
5) J. Thibault discussed the merger of the Suburban League and Tri-County League that will now form the Minnesota Metro Fastpitch League. This will allow the potential of triple sanctioning of berths to further national exposure for Minnesota fastpitch. This will be further discussed at the February 1st Suburban League Meeting.
6) M. Peterson discussed Winter Gym. Numbers appear to be good at all levels with a marked increase in attendance at the second session. Discussion was held regarding the time spent on hitting versus throwing/fielding drills. Will continue to review how the mix of the 2 are working.
7) Evaluation Committee will hold their next meeting on January 31st. Evaluations for the 2004 summer season will be held on Sunday, February 22nd at Lindbergh Center. The 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U’s will be evaluated. Additional information will be available on the website.
8) Discussed the “Team and Player Development” document. When registering for summer play, each player and a parent will be asked to read and sign the "Team and Player Development" document. This document describes some the important information the board wishes to convey to players and families about summer teams. Dean will e-mail a reminder to each parent/child signed up to print the document from the website and return it.
9) First aid kits need to be returned to J. Clark. It’s believed the following coaches/teams have not turned in first aid kits: M. Peterson (2), T. Moynihan (2), J. Rouse (1). Each coach is also to provide a list to J. Clark of who had catcher’s gear.
10) Lighting at Eisenhower gym and stage very poor due to many burnt out lights. Review any action taken at next meeting.
11) T. Undis discussed the need for ordering more trading pins for the upcoming season. Tom is working the design and pricing and will report back at the next meeting.
12) Playing/practice fields were discussed. J. Clark will issue a letter to R. Schwartz, Hopkins-Minnetonka Rec Department requesting field use requirements. Will also ask for a letter written by D. Johnson to the Rec Department requesting more fields due to the construction of the softball fields at the High School.
13) Meeting adjourned at 9:35 p.m. Next meeting will be February 16th.
