Board Meeting

Attendance: M. Peterson, J. Thibault, C. Eischens, T. Undis, D. Meyer, R. Rivett; J. Rouse; J. Clark; T. Moynihan, F. Ricco, R. Ramstad
1) M. Peterson started the meeting with opening remarks.
2) Minutes were approved as written.
3) R. Rivett gave treasurer’s report. Current balance at approximately $12,800. In the process of transferring banks to TCF. Received $4,000 check from the VFW.
ACTION: R. Rivett will put additional financial reports together for next meeting.
OLD ACTION: J. Rouse to get refund from Bif’s for double payment—R. Rivett to look through checks and invoices for information.
ACTION: R. Rivett to fill out form for bulk mailing permit for Hopkins Sports
4) M. Peterson discussed Winter Gym. Overall consensus of winter gym is that skill building is on track for all sessions and attendance has been good. Will pursue getting Jen back next for hitting instruction. Pitching instruction has been transitioned to Alice Smith for the remainder of winter gym. The gym is a little small but it’s working out all right. Thanks again for the hard work put in by J. Clark, J. Rouse, and T. Undis at winter gym.

5) National Coaches Clinic was held January 18th and 19th. This clinic brings instruction from all over the country and the target audience is the upper level coaches mostly from colleges and college players. The following attended the clinic: John Clark, Mark Peterson, Rick Rivett, Jim Rouse, Jack Thibault, Tom Undis, and Lowell Zimmerman. Thanks for putting in the extra effort!
6) Softball game and practice facilities were discussed. J. Clark, J. Rouse and M. Peterson attended a field usage meeting and the Minnetonka Community Center. They asked to have the date of use extended at Gillium from July 31st to September 30th to allow for additional field time for fall softball. Also asked for availability of practice fields at Big Willow. Priority continues to be given to adult leagues.
ACTION: M. Peterson to ask K. Johnson about field usage at West for the summer
ACTION: F. Ricco to verify small storage shed at West still exists as a potential space for equipment
7) Registration for Summer 2003 is underway. A mailing to all current players went out in early January as well as to elementary schools. In addition, there will be two registration nights on Monday, January 27th and Monday, February 2nd from 6:30-8:30 in the Hopkins High School Commons area. Currently we are anticipating having the following teams: 10U – 1 (Rouse), 12U – 2 (Peterson/Rivett, TBD), 14U (Clark/Undis), 16U – 2 (Recknor/Smith, TBD), 18U – 1 (Thibault). Board will meet February 3rd to review how team formation is coming along. Player evaluations will be held February 22 at Lindbergh.
ACTION: M. Peterson to follow up on phone call regarding establishing a working relationship with Blake.

8) J. Clark discussed field usage. First Suburban league meeting will be held February 2nd at 1:30.
ACTION: J. Clark to contact chief umpire for summer fees
ACTION: J. Clark to line up field maintenance crew for summer
9) First Suburban league meeting will be held February 2nd at 1:30. Will be able to firm up potential tournament dates after specific dates are defined for Qualifiers.
10) D. Meyer developed stat tracking software for softball. It is a web based score reporting/team results/standings site. Dean will e-mail out to members to look at.
11) M. Peterson had no new update on field development.
ACTION: M. Peterson to follow up with K. Johnson about potential field development updates.
12) Discussed uniform status for upcoming year. T. Moynihan agreed to work the ordering of uniforms again this year. Last year we ordered clothing through Metro Sports and had lettering done by DePaul.
ACTION: T. Moynihan to check All Star Sports for competitive quote.
13) Other expenditures discussed: $500 check needs to be cut as approved for the Hopkins High School Softball team trip to Florida over spring break in March. J. Thibault ordered 5 copies of TurboStats for the upcoming season as well.
14) R. Rivett presented his review of the present bylaws. Asked that all members review the information.
15) Garage needs to be re-keyed for security purposes. Also needs to check serial numbers on pitching machines.

16) Ringneck Tournament in Sioux Falls will be held June 27th through June 29th. The supply of trading pins is diminishing and a new design needs to be chosen and ordered. Will discuss at next meeting
