Why Fastpitch?
Want to play softball in High School? Our High Schools and Colleges play fastpitch. Our alumni include many former and current high school and collegiate players.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently announced that the 2010 Royals earned high national rankings for team grade point average. Over the years the team has achieved top honors in the country eleven times, including finishing number one in 2002, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Additionally, more than 55 Royals have received the NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Award. Congratulations to Coach Campbell and her team of tomorrow's leaders!
On the field, the Royals have won 18 Classic Lake Conference Championships, 1 Lake Conference Championship. Players have consistently earned spots on first and second All-Conference teams. In fact, over 50 players have been named to these prestigious teams since 1997. The Royals have won the Section 6AA and AAA Championship sixtimes – 1996,1997, 1998, 2008, 2009 and 2011. During Campbell’s five trips to the State Tournament, the Royals finished first in 1997, second in 1998 and fifth in 2008 & 2009 along with a third place finish last year 2011. The softball program has made eleven trips to the State tournament!
As a sport, fastpitch resembles baseball more so than slowpitch. Fastpitch is a dynamic, fast-moving game. Our girls learn to play all positions and how to handle the many game situations they are presented with. Our girls know what is a bunting situation and they know where to go with the ball and the responsibilities of every position involved. Like baseball, the fastpitch softball game changes on a pitch by pitch basis.
Many baseball players can make the transition to fastpitch provided they switch early enough to get adjust to the timing differences. A switch to fastpitch is recommended at or before 12U (approximately 7th grade) for girls playing either baseball or slowpitch softball.
Learn the mechanics and fundamentals of fastpitch early, switch to slowpitch later if the game is not right for you.
We have players from most public and private schools throughout the Hopkins and surrounding communities. The diverse group of schools served makes the transition to junior high and high school much easier. Friendships are formed that last a lifetime.

Hopkins Fastpitch has a new logo!
Hopkins Fastpitch is proud to announce that we have an exciting new logo! John Thelen, father of Addie (14A), has generously donated his time and graphic design talents to creating a set of new logos for the organization. The different designs were presented to the membership at the Leadoff Picnic last Spring. Members were encouraged to vote for their favorite design. We had a clear winner! The Hopkins Board approved the new design in the July meeting and we are now incorporating it into our website and printed materials. John is also the designer of our Royal Rampage logo.
Thank you, John!!
